4th ANNUAL THE LAUREL BALL
FUNDRAISER LAURELS FOR LITERATURE GIVES BOSTON AREA TEENS A
CHARITY CONNECTION TO YOUNGER CHILDREN
Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007 (7 – 11 p.m.)
The Four Seasons Hotel, Boston
BOSTON, MA, (Nov. 27,
2007) - The Fourth Annual Laurel Ball, New England’s only holiday
charity event for high school students, will be held this year
Wednesday, Dec. 19 from 7 to 11 p.m. at The Four Seasons Hotel on
Boylston Street.
What makes The Laurel
Ball unique is its core charitable mission giving high school students
throughout New England a chance to organize, manage and run their own
charitable event with proceeds directly benefiting younger students in
Boston. Tickets to the black tie event are $125 and so far,
students from over one hundred local communities and six New England
states have purchased tickets.
Each year the gala has a
different theme and charitable theme. This year’s event, “Laurels
for Literature” will benefit two local schools. Proceeds will go
to fund the first centralized library at The Boston Conservatory Lab
Charter School, a public charter school serving students in
kindergarten through fifth grade, with an innovative, “Learning Through
Music” curriculum that infuses music and musical concepts throughout
all academic subjects. The gala’s proceeds will also provide
continued funding for books at the Epiphany School, an accredited
nonprofit middle school whose motto is, “Never Give Up on a Child”.
The 2007 Junior
Committee, consisting of 47 students from more than 30 different schools in New England,
has been instrumental in the planning and production of this event. The
committee has selected the music program, the menu and promoted the
cause of getting involved and making a difference in their own
community.
About The Laurel Ball
Now in its forth year,
The Laural Ball brings together young adults in grades 10 through 12
for a festive and formal evening of dancing, a musical program
including special live performances and a light supper. The 4th Annual
Laurel Ball continues to promote community among teenagers from diverse
backgrounds along with a focus on the process of philanthropy and
community volunteering. Our mission is to bring students from
different schools together to celebrate the holiday season in a
cultural setting, while participating in a fund-raising effort for each
year’s special objective, in a way that can make a notable
difference. The proceeds from the Ball are used to support
selected charitable organizations whose focus is younger children's
education.
